Description

A creamy, fragrant homemade fall latte made with real orange, honey, cinnamon, and cardamom. No flavored syrups, just simple ingredients and plenty of flavor!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 shot espresso (approximately 1 oz)
  • ¾ cup milk of choice
  • 1 strip fresh orange peel, approximately 2 inches long
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey, to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Additional cinnamon and cardamom for topping

Instructions

  1. Using a vegetable peeler, remove a 2-inch strip of peel from a fresh orange, avoiding as much white pith as possible.
  2. Rub the orange peel around the rim of your coffee mug, then place the peel inside.
  3. Brew one shot of hot espresso directly over the orange peel.
  4. Let the orange peel steep in the espresso for 2 minutes, then remove it.
  5. Add the honey, cardamom, and cinnamon. Stir until the honey dissolves and the spices are well combined.
  6. Steam the milk until hot and frothy.
  7. Pour the steamed milk over the espresso.
  8. Finish with a light sprinkle of cinnamon and cardamom. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Orange flavor: Steeping fresh orange peel in hot espresso creates a stronger citrus flavor than adding grated zest.
  • Sweetness: Start with 1 teaspoon honey and increase to 2 teaspoons if desired.
  • Milk: Whole milk or barista-style oat milk works especially well.
  • Iced variation: Steep the peel in hot espresso, stir in the honey and spices, cool slightly, and pour over ice with cold milk.
  • Espresso alternative: Substitute ¼ cup strongly brewed coffee.
